Emil Larsson has officially recorded his first point with Tre Kronor, assisting Jakob Lilja’s goal in Sweden’s 3-2 win against the Czech Republic this past Thursday.
Youngsters Zion Nybeck, Theo Nordlund and Emil Andrae walked way from the U17 World Hockey Challenge with bronze medals around their necks, as Sweden took third place in the tournament after a 4-3 shootout victory against Canada Red yesterday.
In the six games played, Nybeck scored three goals and Andrae recorded three assists. Although Nordlund didn’t rack up any points, the defenseman did score a goal in Sweden’s pre-tournament game against Czech Republic and impressed with his transitional offensive skills.
As Sweden took home bronze, Russia won gold and Finland captured silver.
Emil Larsson has been chosen to Sweden’s roster for the upcoming Karjala Cup, taking place Nov. 8-11 in Prague and Helsinki.
Head coach Rikard Grönborg announced the roster to the media during a press conference earlier today. This will be Larsson’s first time throwing on the Tre Kronor jersey.
The other countries taking part in the tournament include Russia, Finland, and Czech Republic.
Rasmus Sandin made his AHL debut with the Toronto Marlies last night, scoring his first goal of the season in their 4-1 victory over the Syracuse Crunch.
This makes Sandin the first player born in the 2000s to play and score, not just for the Marlies, but in the entire AHL. In addition, he played 18 shifts, drew two penalties, and was third on the Marlies defense in Corsi percentage.
Zion Nybeck, Theo Nordlund, and Emil Andrae have all been chosen to Sweden’s roster for the upcoming World U17 Hockey Challenge, taking place Nov. 3-10 in New Brunswick.
Sweden will be taking on Finland, Canada Red, and Russia in the preliminary round.
