Playmaker is proud to welcome Axel Jonsson Fjällby to the family! The 19-year-old Stockholm native, nicknamed “Tarzan”, was drafted 147th overall in the 2016 NHL Draft by the Washington Capitals. Standing at six feet tall and weighing 185 lbs, the high-energy left winger currently plays for Djurgårdens IF of the Swedish Hockey League, an organization he’s been with since the 2013-2014 season. Last season Fjällby even served as an Assistant Captain for DIF’s J20 team. In addition, he has represented Sweden at the U18, U19 and U20 levels.
“He skates with a low center of gravity and flies around the ice like a wrecking ball, using his size and speed to be a disruptive force,” said SBN College Hockey of Fjällby. “He knocks opponents off the puck and makes offensive plays by out-hustling the other team . . . Jonsson Fjällby is definitely a third or fourth line grinder at the NHL level. Given another few years to develop, he could be a very valuable piece as a guy that could fill one of those roles on an entry-level contract, a huge plus in the modern NHL. He’ll need to play high-energy, good defensive hockey in order to stick in the big leagues, but has shown the ability to do that.” https://www.japersrink.com/2016/6/25/12030812/washington-capitals-draft-axel-jonsson-fjallby
